Shattering the Perfect Teacher Myth

Session Description: The idyllic myth of the perfect teacher—the one who has it all together and breezes through the school year without fear or stress and whose well-behaved students always get straight As—sets the bar incredibly high for educators. The problem is that this myth also perpetuates unrealistic expectations that erode self-confidence and set teachers up for failure. Exposing these myths isn’t enough. In this session, we’ll shatter those myths and replace them with truths that highlight strategies to help teachers THRIVE! If you’re tired of simply surviving and are ready to thrive, join this session about Shattering the Perfect Teacher Myth.

If You Build It, They Will Come: Launching a District Twitter Chat

Session description: On any given school day, educators are both surrounded by people and isolated from their peers as they carry out the day’s work. While this can leave many feeling disconnected, connecting with other educators online can help mitigate some of the isolating nature of our work. Aaron Hogan and Jeremy Stewart (co-creators of #CSISDchat) share about the process of creating, launching, and sustaining a district Twitter chat. Together they will touch on the challenges those who want to launch a district chat can expect and provide a brief framework for developing your own district community online that creates conversations that serve as a catalyst for change. If you’re an administrator who wants to help your teachers grow, this session is for you.
